Today’s Devotion – 20-08-09 (Thursday):
LOVE DOES NOT HOLD GRUDGES
…. It is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it. I CORINTHIANS 13:5
Love forgives; it does not hold a grudge. It is not touchy, easily offended, nor is it fretful or resentful. Some people get their feelings hurt about everything. It is very difficult to be in a relationship with people like this.
We have many opportunities every day to get offended; each time we must make a choice. If we choose to live by our feelings, we will never flow in this all-important facet of love.
“Drop it, leave it and let it go,” is what the Bible says we are to do with offenses (Mark 11:25). It is important to forgive quicker we do it, the easier it becomes. A weed that has deep roots is harder to pull out than one that has just sprung up.
God is love, and He forgives and forgets: “For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more” (Jeremiah 31:34). And He is glad to do so. If we want to be like Him, then we must develop the same habit.
